This may start a mad dash to the Home Buying "finish line" to purchase a home before the rates change. It may also encourage buyers, especially first time buyers to save more of a downpayment to avoid paying CMHC mortgage insurance. What is important is that you purchase a home that you can afford and that should something such as the need to replace a furnace doesn't send you to defaulting on your mortgage.
