Jamesville Neighbourhood Community Video

By / January 25, 2014 / Community and Neighbourhood Videos

Super Crawl photograph by Harry Gils

The Jamesville neighbourhood has been gaining in popularity since the area transformed itself primarily through its arts community.  By the growth of all the Art Galleries, and increased demand for local art studio space, the area has become a bit of a hot spot in residential sales as well.  With the number of new visitors to the area through the monthly James Street Art Crawl and the Super Crawl, people are introduced to the uniqueness of the area and as such the demand for housing has increased substantially over the last  5 years or so.  The influx of Art Galleries has only added to the already robust variety of restaurants, trendy coffee shops, and wonderful fish and fresh produce markets.  The area is home to the spectacular transformation by the Labourers Union of the former CN Railway Station into the now very popular and elegant LIUNA Station Banquet Hall.  The monthly Art Crawl is held the second Friday of each month.  This year's Super Crawl is being held September 12th to the 14th.

Homes in the area are primarily older ranging from the late 1800's to the early 1900's  (up to the 1940's).  You will find a number of areas where there are unique row/townhouses that provide interesting architecture however the majority of homes are single detached, 2 and 2.5 storey homes.

Take a stroll down the area and find out what all the buzz is about Jamesville!
