Making a better life in 84 square feet
By Angela Nolan / April 21, 2014 / Home Decor

Could you live you live like Dee Williams in this small home while most people have sheds on their property that are larger? I could see myself doing this except for that I would not be willing to live without a working shower and sink in the bathroom. Other than that, it would be great to simplify one's life to the max. Good for her.

The Dining Room
By Angela Nolan / April 10, 2014 / Home Decor

This homeowner has taken what was a seldom used space to one that can still host the odd formal/casual dinner but can also be used as an at-home office. The beautiful storage bookcases with the lovely labelled baskets, an art ledge and desk with decorative file holders on the wall only add to the beauty of this room. Now this family has the office space it needed without the major cost of a renovation/addition. When they are ready to sell their home, potential buyers can still see that there is a beautiful dining room that they can easily opt in or out of having an office in the space. Win! Win!
CMHC Financing
By Angela Nolan / April 10, 2014 / News

This may start a mad dash to the Home Buying "finish line" to purchase a home before the rates change. It may also encourage buyers, especially first time buyers to save more of a downpayment to avoid paying CMHC mortgage insurance. What is important is that you purchase a home that you can afford and that should something such as the need to replace a furnace doesn't send you to defaulting on your mortgage.
Add some Red Pizzazz to your home!
By Angela Nolan / April 10, 2014 / Home Decor

Red is a very beautiful colour. According to the colour experts, in the dining room it can awaken your taste buds. Now if you are trying to lose weight, perhaps you may want to choose another colour!
The best way to add such a strong colour is to add to surfaces such as the paint on your walls. Another great way to add colour is on your soft fabrics such as drapery, pillows and area rugs. If you Install red kitchen cupboards, red countertops or red bathroom fixtures and then decide you are tired of the red, you are going to have a very expensive renovation cost to make the change.
Make colour your friend not your enemy.
Now go out and visit your local paint store and remember; be brave! My favourite place for colour advice is from the professionals at my local Benjamin Moore dealer, Bay City Paint.
